How an EX Coach Can Make Your Quit Day Easier

Get some extra support on your quit day. Chat with an EX Coach.

Big day today! The first day you quit is a great day to chat with an EX Coach. EX Coaches can help make getting through your first day easier.

All EX Coaches are certified Tobacco Treatment Specialists, which means they have advanced education in treating tobacco addiction. Our EX Coaches can give you tips and tools to build confidence, create strategies to beat your triggers, and encourage you on your quit journey. They are real people with names, families, and a history with tobacco.

Each chat is a chance to make a connection with someone who cares about your thoughts and questions about quitting. Not sure where to start?

Here are four ideas for conversations with an EX Coach today:

  • Create coping strategies and stress management tools to help with today and beyond

Coaches can help you understand your triggers and how they lead to smoking, vaping, or tobacco. They can help you learn new ways to cope with triggers and manage stress.

Try saying, “I’d like to find some new ways to cope that work for me.”

  • Manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings

You might feel stressed, irritable, foggy, or anxious at the beginning of your quit. These are normal symptoms of nicotine withdrawal. An EX Coach can give you tools to manage withdrawal symptoms to make quitting more comfortable.

Ask, “How can I make withdrawal more manageable?”

  • Learn about quit medications that fit your needs and preferences

There are seven FDA-approved medications that can make your quit easier and more successful. EX Coaches can help you pick a medication that’s right for you.

You may be eligible for free nicotine patches, gum, or lozenges through EX. Ask your EX Coach.

If you’re on the fence about using medication, try saying, “I’m not sure how I feel about using medication to quit.”

  • You can even say you don’t know what to talk about!

Your coach can help you come up with a starting point. Try saying, “I don’t know what we should chat about, but today is my quit date."

Chats with EX Coaches are in real-time, so the length of the chat is up to you. It can be as short as just a few minutes, or it can be a longer conversation.

To get started now, look for the orange chat window in the bottom right corner of any page. Or, start a chat with the EX Duo app.
